       1st. St. Mary's (Dungarvan) with 41 pts.

2nd. Ardmore N.S. with 40 pts.

3rd. Ballinameela N.S. with 38pts

As can be seen by the above score, there was a clear cut result here with no ties and therefore no further rounds to contend with. St. Mary's N.S. narrowly defeated Ardmore N.S. who i must say performed vet well considering that it was their first time attending the quiz.                           We would like to welcome both Ardmore N.S. and Garranbane N.S. to our quiz and hope that we will see more of them in the near future.

Fourth Class.

1st. St. Joseph's N.S. (Dungarvan) with 43 pts.

2nd. Kilbrien N.S. with 42 pts.

3rd. Boys' N.S. (Cappoquin) with 42 pts.

St. Joseph's had a superb victory here as they scored a total of 43 pts. which was a brillient achievement when one considers that the maximum score was 50 pts.

We actually had a tie among three teams,Kilbrien N.S., Boys' N.S. (Cappoquin) and Carriglea N.S. for second place as all these teams had 42 pts. each. After an extra round of questions Kilbrien occupied second place with a score of 3 pts. while Boys' N.S. (Cappoquin) took third place bt scoring 2 pts. Carriglea N.S. lost out by the narrowest of margins as they got 1pt. for this final round.

Our next big night was Tuesday, 27th. May and teams from 5th. and 6th. classes made there appearance and the following schools were successful.

Fifth Class.

1st. St. Mary's N.S. (Dungarvan) with 35pts.

2nd. St. Mary's N.S. (Dungarvan) with 27pts.

3rd. Ballyduff Upper N.S. with 26pts.

As can be seen from the above score, there was a clear cut result here with no ties and therefore no further rounds to contend with.

Sixth Class.

1st. St. Mary's with 40pts.

2nd. Abbeyside with 39pts.

3rd. Scoil Gharbhain with 32pts.

As you can see St. Mary's came first with a marvellous score of 40 points out of a total of 50pts. They were followed close behind by Abbeyside and Scoil Gharbhain who both occupied second and third place respectively.

There was great excitement and tension as the final score was announced for the best performing school. St. Mary's emerged as the best overall school with a total score of 143pts. and they won the long sought after Megavision Shield.

The teams from each standard were presented with their trophies and the schools which had the best teams on each night were also presented with the following perpetual trophies:

Best 3rd. Class (East Cork Oil Trophy) was presented to St. Mary's N.S. (Dungarvan).

Best 4rd. Class (East Cork Oil Trophy) was presented to St. Joseph's C.B.S. (Dungarvan).

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the following who helped out on the nights concerned. Quiz Masters: Tom Scanlan and Ned Keane.   Many thanks also to the Quiz Panel, collectors, Photographer, Scorekeepers and Receptionists, all of whom comprised of parents, teachers, past-pupils and friends. Everyone was delighted to see Rita Ronayne out and about again and enjoying the Quiz. We would also like to thank all the teachers who encouraged their schools to participate in the Quiz as the last term is a very hectic one with all the hurling matches, girls football matches. camogie matches and Primary Schools' Sports.       Many parents were amazed at the high standard of General Knowledge among their children as the final scores on each night were very high, the highest score being 43pts. out of 50pts.which is no mean achievement. We would like to congratulate the teachers on inculcating such a high standard of General Knowledge in their schools and supporting us over the last seveenteen years. Our Quiz would not be such a success without your great commitment to your schools and pupils.

We are very grateful to Villierstown Community Centre for allowing us the use of their facilities and to our sponsors East Cork Oil, Irwins (Dungarvan), Waterford Foods and Joyn Cunningham Building Services Ltd. whose kind sponsorship made our Quiz possible. We would also like to wish Gary Ronayne and Pat Hook from Villierstown School, who are in hospital at the moment, a speedy recovery and we are all looking forward to seeing them back in school shortly.
