PRESS RELEASE ON BEHALF OF ROUNDERS COUNCIL OF IRELAND 05-02-06

The Rounders Council of Ireland will meet in Racket Hall Roscrea on Sunday 5^th February to hold their Annual Congress. It is the turn of Munster to host the event and this fell to the Roscrea Rounders Club this year.

Delegates from all corners of Ireland will gather to discuss the events of 2005 and what is to follow for 2006.

The Council will present the Strategic Plan which the committee have been working on for two years in between organising and officiating at all the usual events throughout.  The Plan will be in front of Congress for approval before being presented to Cumann Luthchleas Gael where it will be given a fair hearing as promised by the outgoing Uachtaran Sean O’Ceallaigh before being sent to the Sports Council to plead a case for additional funding for the organisation who have the only mixed gender game within the organisation.

The Rounders Council are looking for full integration within the ranks of the organisation. They are keen to develop the game in all Counties and are spreading the message that Rounders is a GAA game and is also a non contact sport.

The ultimate aim is to have a delegate at the GAA Congress in the coming years.
