Ireland Minor & Senior Mixed Finals 2005

Eire Og/Corrchoill Hurling Club in Caragh, Kildare once again was the Venue for the Ireland Minor & Senior Mixed Finals. The club have made their premises available many times throughout this season.  The teams who fielded were from Dublin, Carlow and Cavan.The Minor final was Limekiln, Dublin V Cuchulainn, Carlow. Great fast exciting Play was displayed by David Ryan, Laura McKendry, Daniel Clerkin (Dublin) and Stephen Kirwan, Laura Proctor and Colm Brennan (Carlow). The sides were of equal which showed itself in the final score.

The Seniors were represented by Limekiln B (Dublin) and Erne Eagles (Cavan). The teams took to the pitch with the humming of the Mondello Motor Circuit racing in the background. The sunny weather led to great conditions for top class rounders on the day. The spectators were joined by Sean Mitchell from Baseball Ireland who has been keen to see a Senior game for quite some time. Also in our midst was a Journalist from the USA who is doing a book on Gaelic Games. He has been travelling from North to South covering the different aspects of Football and Hurling. Having seen a write up in the papers regarding the All Star Exhibition Game in Pairc an Crocaigh he decided to forego a trip to Croke Park yesterday and visit the GAA Rounders All Ireland Mixed Finals. Rounders will feature in his upcoming book on his return to America. Some of our All Stars were present for the match in Caragh. Players who featured well on the day were David Ryan and John Nolan Niamh Haverty and Lyndsey Healy (Dublin) and Rosaleen Reilly, Anne Marie Donoghue, Sean Og Brady and Jim Reilly (Erne Eagles).With excellent fielding being displayed by both sides the hits were being caught in Quick succession. The Cavan team came out as Victors after a hard seven innings
