ST MARY’S P.S. CASEMENT BOUND

The lady footballers of St Mary’s P.S., Portglenone have followed in the footsteps of their Camogie counter-parts and qualified for the All County Finals of the INTO Mini-Sevens. In a competition hosted by the Casement’s club the girls fought off a stiff challenge from the footballers of Mount St Michael’s P.S., Randalstown to lift the South West Antrim title for the 2nd year running. The game itself was a closely contested event which left both sides tied on two points apiece at the end of normal time, both of St Mary’s scores coming from their captain, Anna Kearney. The game went to extra time with the girls from the Bann just shading it 1 point to nil to close the game out overall at 3 points for St Mary’s to Mount St Michael’s 2. The competition throughout the day provided a feast of skilful football and both finalists were joined in the competition by St Oliver Plunkett’s PS, Toome, Creggan PS and All Saint’s PS, Ballymena who finished 3rd overall.
