I.N.T.O./ G.A.A. GIRLS MINI SEVENS FOOTBALL WESTERN FINAL 2004-05
BALLYMACARBRY ARE CHAMPIONS.
Ballymacarbry 6 - 2 Clashmore 3 - 4 .
Following a lovely passing movement Aileen Wall broke through to score a great point for Ballymac. The same player scored a goal following a similar build –up by the Ballymac team . Laura Gleeson had a great shot saved by the Clashmore keeper Claire Cunningham. Clashmore moved downfield and Andrea Cunningham belted the ball to the back of the net after an excellent solo – run . Back came Ballymac and Katie Prendergast goaled. Laura Gleeson hit the post with a powerful kick. Clashmore fought hard and Andrea Cunningham rewarded their efforts by scoring a goal and a point . The teams were level and the commitment from both sets of players was top – class . Another goal by Aileen Wall gave Ballymac the lead at half - time .
THE SECOND HALF .
Within half a minute Andrea Cunningham soloed through for a goal and the same player added three points . Back came Ballymac and when Aileen Wall pointed and Laura Gleeson scored a goal they were a point ahead. Ballymac scored another goal and when Sarah Meehan rattled the net just before the final whistle the Ballymac girls were home and dry. For Clashmore Caoimhe Hynes and Sinead McCarthy were impressive all through .

SEMI – FINALS .
Clashmore 2 - 2 Lismore 1 - 3
Andrea Cunningham scored a good goal early on . Lismore keeper Helen O’
Donnall made a super save to prevent another Clashmore goal . Ruth Geoghegan scored an excellent point for Lismore. Lismore took the lead when Rachel Whelan rattled the back of the net . This changed when a shot from about 15 metres from goal by Andrea Cunningham raised a green flag . A good interception by Elaine Murphy prevented a possible Lismore score.
HALF - TIME : Clashmore 2- 0 Lismore 1 - 1 .
Lismore recommenced smartly when Sarah Fenton pointed . Clashmore piled on the pressure but good defensive play by Niamh Prendergast, Gemma Reaney and Emily Heneghan prevented many scores . Finally, Andrea Cunningham pointed and Evelyn O’ Brien pointed a free . Lismore attacked bravely but a point from Ruth Geoghegan was not sufficient to swing the game their way .
LISMORE : Helen O’ Donnell, Niamh Prendergast, Gemma Reaney, Rachel Whelan, Emily Heneghan, Aoife Hannon, Ruth Geoghegan , Sarah Fenton, Aoife Barry, Kelly Landers, Marie Murphy .
Ballymacarbry 4 - 4 Modeligo 2 - 1 .
Modeligo stormed into the lead with a goal from Leonora Kiely within half a minute . Ballymac replied with a point from Aileen Wall . Ballymac then had a good period and three goals by Sarah Meehan gave them a comfortable lead . Modeligo strove bravely to get back into the game but a good block down by Brid Cooney followed by an excellent save by goalkeeper Eve Collins prevented scores by the Modeligo forwards. Katie Prendergast scored a point for Ballymac while Katie Barry got one for Modeligo. The final score of the half was a goal for Ballymac by Laura Gleeson.
THE SECOND HALF .
Again Modeligo began excellently and Katie M Buckley sent a piledriver to the back of the net . Katie Prendergast steadied matters when she pointed for
Ballymac. A good shot for the corner by Aileen Wall was excellently saved by the Modeligo goalkeeper Katie C Buckley . Modeligo played with great spirit throughout the second half . Aileen Wall’s point was the last score of the game .
