I.N.T.O./ G.A.A. MINI – SEVENS WESTERN FINAL. 2004
LISMORE ARE CHAMPIONS.
Semi – Finals : Lismore 2 – 3 Dungarvan Boys 2 – 2 .
Abbeyside 1 – 7 Ballymacarbry 1 – 3 .
WESTERN FINAL : LISMORE 1 - 4 ABBEYSIDE 1 – 3 .
Lismore Team : Cailean o Gorman, Paudie Prendergast, Tom o’ Brien, Robert o’ Keeffe, A. Coleman, Peter o ‘Keeffe, Gavin Pratt.
Subs : Conor Murray, Micheal Fitzgerald.
Abbeyside Team : Philip Cashin, Stephen O’Connor , Barry McCullough , Colm Kindregan, Ronan Sheehan, Ros Dunford, Jason Nagle.
Subs: Jack Leahy, Owen Bergin, Ray Murphy.
The games were played at the Abbeyside – Ballinacourty G.A.A. grounds and we would like to thank the staff for having the playing pitches and dressing rooms in perfect condition.
Ballinameela were last years champions and Tallow were runners – up .
GIRLS FOOTBALL.
The I.N.T.O./ G.A.A. Mini – Sevens Girls football Blitz will take place on Tuesday 5th. October at 3.30p.m. again at the Abbeyside and Lismore venues.
CONGRATULATIONS.
Two young players from Waterford were in action in the I.N.T.O./G.A.A. Mini – Sevens which was part of the programme for All – Ireland Hurling Day. Padraig Prendergast from Bunscoil Bothar na Naomh, Lismore , played on the hurling team ( Cork Selection ) and Amy Devine, a pupil at Tallow N.S. played on the Camogie team ( also Cork Selection ) . Both played outstanding games. Well done to both of them .
NATIONAL MEETING.
A National Meeting of Cumann na mBunscol , Naisiunta was held in St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra , on Saturday 25th. September at 11.00a.m.
Representing Waterford were Breda Cleary , Principal , Glenbeg N.S. and Seamus Fitzgerald, P.R.O. Waterford Primary Schools Board.
Margaret Cunningham, Principal , Villierstown N.S. is National Secretary of Cumann na mBunscol Naisiunta and her secretaries report was very well received . Entries for the Roadstone Awards were submitted at the meeting. Breda Cleary and Margaret Cunningham had entries in the small – schools category. Eamonn Fitzgerald , St. Declans, Waterford City, had a project for the large schools section and Seamus Fitzgerald entered projects in the Public Relations and Centenary Camogie categories.
