LISMORE OVERCOME SPIRITED BALLYGUNNER CHALLENGE.

LISMORE   1 – 8  BALLYGUNNER   0 – 3 .

From the throw in Peter o’ Keeffe popped over a point from way out on the right .

Lismore applied the pressure with Cailean O’Gorman providing a liberal supply of the sliotar from centrefield. Ballygunner tried hard to get the momentum going and shot two wides. Also they found it hard to create chances against a tight marking Lismore defense where Kieren Bennett and Michael Crowley were excellent at the skill of hooking their opponents.  Captain Sean O’Sullivan and Cian O’Hara showed up well for Ballygunner during this period.  However Lismore extended their lead when Conor Murray pointed from close range. Padraig Prendergast was adept at taking long range frees for Lismore. From one of these  diminutive Paudie Coleman gathered and sent over a glorious point . Peter O’Keeffe surged through for Lismore and was fouled and Padraig Prendergast stepped up and pointed the resultant free.  A good clearance by Kevin Curran of Ballygunner caught the eye. Johnny McCarthy hurled some good ball  and did his utmost to swing the game Ballygunner’s way . Stephen Bennett in the Lismore goal had to be alert to make a good save  from Christopher Kervick.  An astute lob by Gavin Pratt was excellently saved in the Ballygunner goal by Tim O’Sullivan. Ballygunner won a ’65 which was taken by Sean O’Sullivan. He lobbed it into the goalmouth and the sliotar was tapped over the crossbar by Kieran O’Neill. The half – time whistle sounded shortly afterwards with the score standing at Lismore 0 – 4   Ballygunner  0 – 1 .
