TALLOW PIP FERRYBANK IN THRILLER.

 

Final Score: TALLOW 1 – 6    FERRYBANK  1 – 3 .

Ferrybank had a good opening period with Seamus Burtchaell and Cormac Heffernan prominent. Aaron Pratt put in some good work for Tallow. For Tallow a good delivery by Ray Barry was put out for a ’65 by Ferrybank Keeper Luke Flynn. Ray himself pointed the ’65. Kevin Hurley made some good clearances in defense for Ferrybank. Their pressure only yielded a number of wides. Aaron Pratt of Tallow went on a solo – run and sent a cracker of a shot to the back of the Ferrybank net. Aaron added a point from midfield and then pointed a 65 . Ferrybank lifted their game but Kieran Frazer did some good work in defense for Tallow. The Ferrybank pressure was finally rewarded when Neil Wemyss sent over a glorious point from long range. Darren Hickey added another point. Tallow countered – won a ’65 and Ray Barry sent over the point. Damien Ahern did some good work for Ferrybank up to half – time.

The score at the interval was Tallow 1 – 4  Ferrybank  0 – 2 .

STRONG  FERRYBANK  COMEBANK .

In glorious sunshine Tallow did the early attacking with Ray Barry and Robert Beecher prominent. Brian McCarthy won a free for Tallow and again Ray Barry pointed it . Neil Wemyss won possession and sent a piledriver towards the Tallow goal which goalkeeper Sean Barry saved. Sean indeed plucked a number of long deliveries out of the air to keep the Tallow goal intact for much of the second – half. The Ferrybank goal finally came when Darren Hickey found the net from a cross. There were some exciting tussels between Brian McCarthy and Ciaran Grant. Tallow’s Ray Barry pointed another free. Ferrybank completed the scoring when Sam Lawlwss pointed following a long solo – run along the left – hand side of the field .

BUTLERSTOWN  WIN IN EXTRA – TIME THRILLER

Final Score:    BUTLERSTOWN 1 – 1   TALLOW  1 – 0 .

Butlerstown dominated early on  with Melissa Taheny doing good work to drive them on. Eve Ryan was prominent for Tallow during this period. Rachell Taheny made a good save in the Butlerstown goal. One could hear the Tallow mentors shouting ‘ Two hands on the hurley’ . There was some good interpassing between Melissa Taheny and Rosemary Power for Butlerstown. A good strike from the hand by Michelle Tobin of Tallow caught the eye. Tallow were first to score when Grace o’Keeffe sent a ’65 all the way to the back of the net. Butlerstown were stung into action and exerted fierce pressure and Nicole Curley and Ciara Hallahan had to be very alert to keep them at bay. Finally Cara Kennedy broke through and scored an excellent equalizer. The sides were level when the half – time whistle sounded.

 

TITANIC  BATTLE.

During the second period every player on both teams did their utmost to secure victory for their school. The play ebbed and flowed but scores were difficult to come by. Aoife o’Sullivan, Alice Hartery and Robyn Ormonde defended well for Butlerstown.  Amy Beecher, Aine McCarthy and Aishling McCarthy did their utmost to score for Tallow.The game went into extra – time and at the end of the first period there were still no further scores. Finally Cara Kennedy became the hero of the day. She soloed through the Tallow defense and shot for goal . Her powerful strike went over the bar. However, it was enough to secure victory for her team.
