Cumann na mBunscol Laighean
September 2nd 2006:
Report to Coiste Náisiúnta.
1. Meetings:
The Coiste Láir met on two occasions during the year (24 Jan 2006/ / 7th April 2006). The main business of these meetings was the organization of our games programme. A.G.M. will be held in October2006.
2. Administration:
12 communications with counties by post. Preparations for coiste lair meetings. Reports for Coiste Náisiúnta / C.L.G. Laighin. On line Newsletter available on Leinster G.A.A. website Details of ‘Games Programme’ prepared/posted to counties.
3.Dairygold Sponsorship
Met with Joan O’ Brien (Dairygold Rep) to discuss sponsorship of Mini Games. It was decided not to go ahead .
4.Roadstone Awards 2005
Entered in two categories (Football & Hurling) but did not receive nomination. Attended Awards Ceremony in Berkeley Court on December 10th . Leinster Counties did well (Dublin, Wexford, Wicklow)
5.Gaelic Telecom Awards 2006
Submission s were prepared in August 2006 in 2Categories ‘. I hope to see Leinster counties enter and win nominations.
6.Coiste Náisiúnta
Attended September General Meeting in St Pat’s. Met with Coiste in Club na Múínteoirí (Sept.10th 2005)gave report of years activities. The rúnaí represented Leinster at National A.G.M. in Wexford on weekend of 24/25th February. Meeting with National P.R.O. deferred until a later date.

10. St. Patrick’s College
The trainee teachers acted as referees in our matches during the year. Others helped with the organization on the day. This partnership is indeed an important one and will hopefully bear fruit when these students become involved in promoting gaelic games in the schools in the near future. We sponsored kit bags for the college hurling team. Thanks to Tom Fitzpatrick.
11.County Units;
The co-operation with all county units is the key to success for Cumann na mBunscol Laighean. I thank the secretaries in each county for their work. However it is disappointing to report difficulties in getting a small number of counties to get involved in our ‘Games Programme’.
12.Go Games
Attended National Go Games Launch in Croke Park on September 14th 2005. Leister lauch took place in Portlaoise on October 3rd 2005. Facilitated Go Game s during Leinster Hurling Final on July 2nd 2006.
13. Young Whistler Scheme:
Cumann na mBunscol Laighean utilized the young referees of this scsheme during the mini games. Thanks to Jerry Grogan And Coiste Áth Cliath for their support.
14. Inter Provincial Finals.
The Martin Donnelly sponsored semi final/final were played in Parnell Park with a mini game a t half time facilitated by officers of Cumann na mBUnscol Laighean.
15. The Future!!!!!
We are urgently in need of new members on our committee. I have served as rúnaí /cathaoirleach now for 8 years and feel it is time to take a break and let young teachers take over. The Cathaoirleach, David Finnegan ‘s term of office is also up in October.
