Cumann na mBunscol Carlow Handball 2007

Handball is the fastest growing of the Cumann na mBunscol sports in County Carlow. In association with the county Handball Board, Cumann na mBunscol Carlow offers coaching to boys and girls from 15 schools both urban and rural. This years skills competition was held in Garryhill. 24 girls from 11 schools and 43 boys from 13 school took part. This is considerably more than previous years, and the increase is even more remarkable given that schools were limited to one participant in each category. The restriction on numbers was due to time constraints. Cumann na mBunscol, Carlow is indebted to Garryhill Handball Club for the use of its premises. Rúnaí, Liam Shinnors works closely with coach Cecil Whelan in ensuring that as many of our children as possible are introduced to the sport. It is a big hit with parents who have found a suitable indoor sport for their children, one which can be played all year round.Included are some pictures of the boys doubles teams. The local press showed great interest in our handball this year and featured many pictures of the girls and boys as well as printing comprehensive results.
