2005 NATIONAL HANDBALL DAY
The sun shone this year for the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol National Handball Day for both boys and girls, which took place at the Kingscourt multi-court complex in Co. Cavan on Saturday, 11th June. It was the culmination of a lot of hard work by teachers, club members and organiser, Uachtarán, Cumann na mBunscol, Malachy McGeeney, throughout the last year. Thanks to Kingscourt Handball Club for the use of their facilities, Catherine and Kit Finnegan for making sure the venue was ready and ship-shape on the day and Philomena and Anna Finnegan who worked hard in the kitchen to cater for the appetites worked up. Thanks also to Senior Players, Sibeal McKenna and Fiona Shannon from Antrim and to Michael Finnegan from Cavan for taking the time to come to the event, referee, play an exhibition match, take part in a Q& A session for the boys and girls and pose for photographs with the children. And last but by no means least, a special word of thanks to the parents. teachers, mentors and family members who travelled from all corners of Ireland on the day to bring the players themselves and help create a memorable atmosphere at the event.
Below are some of the images from the day that was enjoyed by all.
