Calling on Counties to Volunteer for 2009 Series
Cumann na mBunscol is calling on counties to consider volunteering for a pilot project to select the pupils for the 2009 series. Although the regional festivals and the days in Croke Park are exhibition games, most counties run a competition to select the participants for the regional festival. Rather than run a competition this year, more counties are asked to consider using a skills and games blitz format for selecting pupils to play in Croke Park as some counties do already. For example each school might be asked to nominate two pupils to participate in such a skills and blitz day. Independent assessors would then select pupils to play in Croke Park on the basis of skill alone. In this way the competitive element would be removed. Counties may volunteer to participate in this pilot project in one or more of the four codes. If your county is prepared to volunteer to participate in this project please contact the Mini sevens Coordinator Pat Mc Givern, St. Patrick’s P.S., Coalisland, Co. Tyrone Ph: 048 87740661 (S), 048 87748084 (H), E-mails: pmcgivern739@stpatricksps.coalisland.ni.sch.ukpatrickmcgivern@btinternet.com
