Football fever grips Glasdrumman school.
The pupils of St. Mary's Glasdrumman have really got behind the local GAA football club as they seek glory in the RTE Celebrity Bainisteoir competition. Just before the team departed for their most recent success in the semi-final, celebrity bainisteoir Derek Davis and his team visited the school to a tumultuous reception from the staff and pupils. Mr John Brennan cathaoirleach of Glasdrummman GAC was also there to receive a cheque for £1000 from Aileen Smith chairperson of St. Mary's Friends of the School. For his part, Derek Davis, coming from an inner city background and being hitherto unaware of the unique relationship existing between this parish school and the local GAA club, was overwhelmed by the reception afforded himself and these local heroes. The parents of these children appreciate the support given to the school by the club over the years and the cheque was an acknowledgement of this special relationship. The children have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of decorating the school premises and having all these celebrities visit the school.
